Broken or Bent Slats
Broken or bent slats are the number one sign your window treatments need replacing. If something heavy has fallen against a metal blind, or wood blinds have started to warp in the heat, they can be beyond repair. To enjoy full light and privacy control again, invest in new blinds or curtains.
Slats Won’t Close
If the slats won’t close, they cannot do their job of controlling heat and light. This is incredibly frustrating, especially in the bedroom when you want to sleep. To fix this problem, the tilt wand may need replacing and the whole blind re-cording which is difficult. If your window treatments are getting old, think about investing in a new set of blinds.
Difficult to Get Up and Down
The lifting mechanism could be at fault if your blinds are difficult to operate. Constantly tugging hard to get your blinds up and down, could lead to them falling down all together! If you experience this problem, it’s time to look at your options.
Fading or Stains
Fading and stains on your blinds are a common sign they are getting old. Stains can be treated, but fading material on blinds will need to be changed altogether. If your window treatments are looking tired and faded, there’s no better time to replace them.
Dated Style
If you picked out your window treatments many years ago, it’s likely they are now looking old fashioned. While this isn’t an essential reason to get new blinds, a fresh look will uplift the energy of the whole room, so well worth it.
Unsafe for Kids
You may have picked out your blinds before you had kids? If you have cords hanging down, know that these can be a hazard for young ones as they grow up. Either way, it can be frustrating if your window treatments are no longer convenient to use. If this is the case, look into an upgrade to enjoy full functionality again.
